The original structure had collapsed, Ivy was a major factor growing through the stonework.

This wall reached a height of 2.4 metres and was built a further 500mm below ground.

We were keen to use all of the masonry on site. All of the granite and bricks were reclaimed from the collapsed section and used in the new structure. No additional brick or stone was brought on to site to complete the work.

Lime mortar was used to lay granite and the brickwork. With the bricks laid with an overhang with a mortared lip created to offer the stonework more protection.

Not that it needed it, granite just does not wear.
