This dry stone wall surrounds agricultural land up Bennachie. Parts had fallen due to tree damage. A total of 25.5 square metres have been repaired this visit.

The process is known as 'gapping'. Enjoyable and challenging for wallers and dykers due to a limited amount of stone supply and rough terrain.

Below are a couple of images before the wall was repaired.

Bennachie is a range of hills in Aberdeenshire. The area was home to a community of squatters known as the Colony from 1800 to 1859. This community led a crofting life, engaging in skilled work such as dyking and quarrying for local landowners.

A stunning and beautiful part of Aberdeenshire worth a visit. Good boots recommended!
