Finial replacement and sandstone pillar restoration, Aberdeenshire.

We were tasked to take down the damaged area of the left pillar. A delivery vehicle had knocked the sandstone pillar and damaged the original finial.
We were tasked to take down the damaged area of the left pillar. A delivery vehicle had knocked the sandstone pillar and damaged the original finial.

Suitable scaffolding access allowed us to safely remove all six of the large stones and relay them in lime mortar. We selected NHL 3.5 to act as our binder.

Our completed restoration along with our newly seated sandstone finial. Protective covers had remained for a couple of weeks to allow the mortar to slowly cure.
