Proper joint preparation is as important as the repointing work itself when repairing masonry. Joint preparation consists of carefully removing unsound mortar from between masonry without damaging the surrounding masonry unit.

We use various methods when repairing historic masonry. Hand tools such as a hammer and chisel can be slow, imprecise and contribute to fatigue of the mason.

The Mason Works preferred method are pneumatic precision instruments. They allow for the safe and quick removal of old mortar from even the finest of mortar joints and produces neat work at an economic rate.

The Mason Works have extensive experience in lime mortar pointing and our workmanship allows us to prepare a mortar mix design specific to your restoration.
